Individual Qualifications
Why do you want to become a member of the WISPA Board of Directors and what do you hope to achieve through your leadership experience? I'd like the opportunity to continue to serve on WISPA's Board for another year so I can continue to help guide WISPA's growth, development and effectiveness in Washington as an industry trade and lobbying organization. WISPA has gained considerable credibility during the past year. This credibility now needs to be used (leveraged) to make the case effectively to Congress and the FCC that the WISP industry needs much more support in order to continue meeting the broadband needs of Americans who are otherwise underserved by the traditional large telecom companies.

4. Chair of FCC Committee.

Please explain strengths that you possess that would be of particular benefit to WISPA through your service on the board (e.g. leadership, areas of specialty, industry relations, etc.) 1. 51 years of overall wireless experience.

3. 16 years of broadband wireless experience since founding Wireless InfoNet (now Ask-Wi.Com) in 1993.
4. Created one of the world's first WISPs in 1995.
5. Wrote the vendor-neutral book "Deploying License-Free Wireless Wide-Area Networks" published by Cisco Press in 2003.
6. Trained over 2500 wireless-industry personnel since 2001.

Please describe any current or previous leadership experience with non-profit organizations and your role: Current Director - WISPA Board of Directors
Current President - Santa Susana Mountain Park Association
Current Director - Summit Home Owners Association Board of Directors
Former Director - Zayante Fire Protection District

In your view, what are the biggest challenges facing the wireless internet industry, and how do you believe WISPA should address them? I believe the biggest challenge is the need for additional, usable WISP spectrum. I believe WISPA and WISPA members must address this issue by lobbying Congress and the FCC more thoroughly and more effectively to achieve a "level playing field" for WISPs.
