The self-nomination period has closed, and the Nominations committee is pleased to present its slate of vetted candidates for the 2011 WISPA Board of Directors Election. The candidates are listed below. Click a candidate's name to read the information they have submitted.

 

Understanding the Role of the Board of Directors

The role of the WISPA Board of Directors is to set policies that will ensure that it fulfills its legal and professional responsibilities to members. The board sets the strategic direction and leadership tone for the organization.

The WISPA Board of Directors is comprised of nine (9) members. This election contains bylaws revisions that if accepted by the membership will transition Director's terms from one year to two years by using a staggered election. Therefore, if accepted, the five Candidates who receive the most votes during this election will serve as a WISPA Directors for two years. The other four candidates will serve for one year. After this 2011-2012 term is complete, all Board seats will be for two years. The 2012 election would therefore have 4 Board seats up for election and the 2013 election would have five seats up for election. If the bylaws revisions are not accepted, all candidates will serve for one year. Each director shall serve the designated term and until his or her successor is elected and qualified, or until such director's earlier death, resignation, incapacity to serve, or removal.

All paid WISPA members are eligible for board positions; by rule, however, the majority of the board must be WISPA Principal Members.

 

The Nomination And Election Process

All WISPA members who have been in good standing for at least two months prior to the deadline for nominations are eligible to run for a Board of Directors position. Only one representative from a member organization may be nominated.

Only Principal and Vendor members may vote for board positions. Only one vote per company is allowed. Instructions for voting will be posted to the WISPA Web site and various WISPA mailing lists prior to and during the election.

Election Schedule

June 6, 2011 - June 21, 2011 - The Nominations Committee will accept applications for potential nominees. The Nominations Committee will review applications as they come in, and may contact potential candidates for follow-up interviews.

June 30, 2011 - The Nominations Committee will announce their slate of qualified candidates for the Board.

July 1, 2011 - July 15, 2011 - Candidate campaign period.

July 16, 2011 - July 29, 2011 - Voting period. WISPA members in good standing will be able to vote online for the new Board.

July 30, 2011- Announcement of election results.
